How can you increase more horse power to a 99 camaro v6 3.8L?

Hi there i might sound kinda stupid but i don't know a lot about the performance on a v6 camaro. i have a stock 99 camaro v6 3.8L and i wanna increase more horsepower. currently its running 200hp stock but it would really help if someone could tell me exactly what to add to increase my car to 250hp or even more? my budget at most i wanna spend is $1,000. i don't plan to get a turbocharger or a supercharger or nitrious just yet, maybe in a year or 2. i know a lot of people say i should rather trade my car to a v8 but its too late for that because i've already updated my car a lot.if anyone has any advice or suggestion please feel free to email me at kinoyafiji@aol.com thanks.

get a nice cold air intake system for around 200 bucks (15-20 hp), get a nice exhaust for anywhere between pry 350 and 800 bucks and you'd be close to 240-250 depending on what system.. i'd say just try to get the exhaust opened up more so it breathes better.. did a lot for my camaro. i have a 3.4L and i could definately feel an increase when i had my exhaust system put on. but as the common v6 camaro owner, im once again not satisfied and looking into v8s..

hell $5 is enough to make any car faster...

yea... but you guys have to be realistic... you're not gonig to see 15-20HP gains from just an intake, most likely you will 4-5 at most. Intake and exhaust are complimentary, the more components you add, the more HP gain you will see from each component. The ratings are done this way, the put on a stock part on a suped up car, dyno, then replace this mega restrction w/ the aftermarket part, dyno, and the gains they see are the rating. You are going to need exhaust, hi-flo or no cat, and headers w/ tat intake... then you might see 25 or so more HP.

indeed...the parts as a whole out perform the parts individually...
