Silverado vs. trailblazer

I am going to be in the market in the next few months for a replacement for my 1996 S-series blazer. I am looking at the Siverado and the Trailblzer.

I am looking for people who have towed smaller boats with their Silverado. I have a Lund 1775 Pro-V and live near the Wisconsin River in Wisconsin Rapids. I am looking for good and bad points on the truck to help move along my decision.

I tow a 19 foot bayliner bowrider, you don't even know it's there. A friend of mine has a 2000 silverado and pulls a 17 foot bass tracker, same deal, the truck feels about the same with or without it, just a slight decrease in acceleration but not much.

I tow an 18 open bow boat inboard out board and it is heavy. The truck 98 with a 5.7 liter vortec tows it just wonderfully. a lot of power and the truck sure drives nice with it behind me nice and staight.

ive carried box trailers 12- 14 feet full of furniture and boxes and carried them fine.. also a 16 foot flat bed trailor full of decking board about 75 2x6x16 and 50 2x4x8 all treated and my silverado pulled it with no problems i was really impressed.. its an 02 1500 with the 5.3.. youll be very happy with the silverado.. but i must say i know nothing about owning a trailblazer either..

I got rid of my 2000 silverado about a year ago and got a Trailblazer. The trailblazer can get really lite in the steering with a trailer on the back. We have a small two horse horse trailer and I wouldn't want to pull much more than that. That inline six does seem to give good power though when trailering, but can get a little doggy in hills. Going down the highway I get about 19-20 mpg with it. My old silverado got about 20 consistently. From that point I have been a little disapointed with the blazer.

If you need the room for hauling people the blazer has the edge. With that being said though I am trying to find a good used Crew Cab Silverado so I can have the best of both worlds.

you just need to stick with the 5.7 or the 5.3 like the rest of us are discussing would be good for you. I don't think V-6's are ment to be towing.

Trailblazer has an inline six actually, 275 hp, 275 lbs-tq.

However, i'm like you when saying you need the V-8 for towing.

Ok, I've been looking around at different sites and most of the people have been saying the same thing..... unless the room is needed for a family everyday, which I have a minivan for, get a silverado.

I just moved and towed a 12x6' U-haul trailer full of stuff....the 5.3L handled it without a sweat!!
