Neutral Droping

can u damage your transmission or anything else if you put your car in drive from neutral with the gas down?

yes, I was told it would be better to put it in drive and hold the brake while gassing it (without spinning the tires) then when you're to go let off the brake and floor it.

YES, the answer is YES! dont do it.

power brake it if you wanna squeal the tires or take off fast, but if the tires dont break loose, I wouldnt hold that too long either.

If you keep doing " Neutral Drop" like that, the first thing you will tosted is your Forward Clutch, ones it tosed it will take out your 3rd Clutch and Input Sprag, all three of these packed together in your Forward Drum,

I've managed to break the drum that the input shaft splines into while driving (Stage 2 shift kit in a 350at), so doing neutral drops from a stop will place your trans at even more risk. You don't want to have to hang your head in shame, like I had to after finally getting that Miata to give up the fast lane.

Point being, if you can't burn out without tranny dropping it or power braking it, then you shouldn't be showing off cause your car isn't fast.

Nuetral droppin huh? I used to have a 95 3.4 camaro. I was 17 at the time. Was on the cruise strip at the time and Did the drop. All i heard was the spinning of someting other than my tires. I thought i dropped the tranny. Towed it home and saw that the midshift bearing and where the two driveshafts met had now been a nicely shaped slick surface. ordered the light weight shaft from RK sport. 700 later. So not a good idea. Stick with the power brakin or just dont try at all.
