well i replaced the fuel pump but i've got to say i was stunned when i pulled it out to find it broken in two places. i fished out the pieces that were broken from the tank and sealed the new pump in and all i get now is a motor that'll crank and not start up. i've located all the wires for the fuel system now and apparently need to find a new tester b/c mine grew legs and walked off. if anybody has any ideas b/w now and the time i test it again let me know.

negative, checking with dmm/tester as soon as battery charges back up

could be your fuel pump resistor, fuel pump relay? if it is even fuel pump related. If not that could be the ignition module/coil packs, crank sensor.

Same problem here on a 97 GTP. I knew the fuel pump was OK, so i first changed ignition module because mine looked coroded, still no crank. Then i changed crank sensor and all is great now. You can pull a plug wire to see if you are getting fire or not...

bah f'in pump is no good i guess, checked and had voltage all the way to the pump, pump never clicked on when keyed. also had a dead battery cell but replaced that. and when i turn to key to run rpms hit 200 but is that normal if the motor isn't getting enough fuel. and plenty of spark in the plugs. sending pump back tomorrow and ordering a new one.

hey hey!!! found problem with old pump unfortunely i can't get the thing repaired unless gm sells a new hose that connects from the top of the sender housing to the pump. the supply voltage wire under the lid was worn out and cut off from the pump, more than likely from 2 of the 3 pins/springs that move the pump up and down twisting around for a few months. as for that other pump the POS didn't work and was sent back. i took apart the good sending unit and i couldn't get the hose that the pump feeds to the fuel line off to swap with the new housing. it's like a barbed end on the pump side and solid connect to the lid. i might cut it off one end and try to use a pipe clamp to hold if anybody has any info about pressure lines and using just a pipe clamp to hold it on, guessing max pressure in the line would be tops 62. but other than that trip to the junkyard and if no luck there then off to gmpd.
