Air bags

If your car has been wrecked and the airbags were deployed, do you have to have them replaced or can you just take them out?

you have to replace them, or you won't pass inspection.

unless the person who inspects it is like the guy who inspects my car. he just walks around the car once, and that's about it.

that is true, but I didn't want to tell the guy it was fine, and then for some reason he gets a straight by the book inspection person and tells him he won't pass. And if they say something about just give them a couple extra dollars and they usually overlook it..

But we don't have car inspections in Washington State anymore....so who would inspect it?
Just wondering if it was legal or not?
