Funny Fuel Problem

So my 88 318i euro-specs is acting weird. It would turn over and sounded rather healthy. But it wouldnt start. I thought that because the housing that ran the line from the gas pedal to the throttle body was broken and held the throttle open, that it had flooded. So I tried to flush it out and let the car sit for 2 days. Today it started up like a charm and ran fine. The idle was running low but it was running good as I gave it gas and drove it around the parking lot. Then I shut the car off and made sure that the throttle wasn't open at all. Then the car went back to not starting. It would just turn over and never start. What is that? A faulty fuel pump??? Bad fuel injector??? I dont get it.

check to be sure the fuel pimp fuse is HOT [12v] while your cranking it, if not replace the DME Main & Fuel pump Relays. I'd also check for spark but this seems the easiest 1st step.

You think that the relay would be working off and on? Isn't either it is or it isnt kind of thing???

well yes in a 'perfect world'. you are now in 'Relayland' now however and although much more
reliable than Lucas parts, Bosch relays fail intermittantly often. they should be 'on', told to be 'on', sometimes come 'on' but sometimes not.

I just had to ask, what is your definition of IS ?
SORRY, try the relays 1st..................jb

it may not be have anything to do with fuel at all, when it will not start did you check for spark??? if there is no spark it could be the sensor on the side on the trans..
