more reliable? altima or maxima (95-99)

which is more reliable? the altima or the maxima (years 95-99)

and from what i read the maxima seems to get better mileage, is this true?

I would go with the maxima. My mom has a 94 Altima which has the same engine as 95+ i think and I have a 98 Max. The Altima has all sorts of problems and now the tranny is about to go. It only has 83k on it.

maxima definitely. more sport and more power. higher resale value.

The Altima is a little cheaper, but the trade off is that it isn't built quite as well and it comes with a 4 cylinder engine that isn't near as reliable as the V6 in the long run.
