racing from 25-30mph

okay, so i had a question on how u guys go about racing from a 25-30mph roll. ive tried it when messing wiht friends on the street or downshifting. so im goin about 30mph in 3rd(tach at 2k) when i wanna punch it so i downshift to second but the downshift if very weak and acceleration is slow.....i wanted to downshift to 1st but bc of some mechanism 1st is locked. so im wondering what u guys would do. thanks

... this is the drag race forum which, by definition, mens two cars are racing from a stop.
You might want to ask the folks in the street racing forum.

I can't imagine a rolling start ever being "fair" in this type of a contest. Just my opinion.
