How does one use this stuff?
How much (%) should I add, e.g. to X-1 black, to turn it into semi0gloss black? Matt black?

This is the stuff that I used to give my S2000 seats a nice leather look. I think it works better through an air brush because last time I used it with a brush the paint cracked.
I used it on my EVO that I just posted because I didn't have any flat blue but I think I like the leather look better anyway. You'll have to experiment with it. I used very little to achieve the leather look. 50/50 would be way too much more like 20/80 would be a better bet but I've never achieved a flat look with it yet.

Wouldn't it be quicker just to buy semi gloss and flat black

Bwah! Are you a modeller or not? I'm not seeking simple solutions. Besides, I never knew Tamiya made semi-gloss black (in bottles)

We are modelers, yes, but we are also lazy...

You can't always find the flat color you want... I use that flat base and I usually add too much and end up with a paste! :bloated:

Hehe, thin it with some thinner.
BTW nice project you're working on. I really like the looks of that kit. :D
