Instant Power Off.

When I drive my car and apply the brakes, sometimes my power like kicks off. My Stereo and clock turns off but then instantly turns back on. More like a flick. Also the HICAS lights up when the power is out but goes away once the flick is gone. Could this have something to do with my alternator? Or a dying battery?

it would most likely be your alternator. z's have a problem with the alternator going out. i can vouch for that, i have gone through 3 alternator's in 7k miles. so when you buy one, make sure you have a lifetime warranty and keep the reciept.

Would this be hard to take out? I really don't know the exact position of the alternator but I have taken the alternator on other cars that were easy to spot and free to take out. Thanks for your help. By the way, how much did your alternator run for? Price wise I mean.

It's a bitch taking out your Alt. But don't have some shop do it for you when you can do it yourself! They wanted to charge me $175 to drop and install a new one! I dropped my Alt. from underneath by removing the sway bar and lower radiator hose. It's really tight in there... I hope you have patience 'cus it took me nearly all day.

BTW: My alt. cost about $170 with lifetime warranty at Autozone. I'd recommend buying it from them with the warranty since you may have more problems with your Alt. later!

Just dont wait untill you are driving on a highway one night in the pouring rain and it decides to die and you have to sit for a couple hours. Or was that just me. yeah so anyway, if you wan to see it, look at y our engine, look to the left, straight down and oh thats right, yet again, you wont see it. Its a pain in the ass, i just ripped out the radiator to change mine, leaned in and gutted. it was interesting.

i went from underneath like 1via. it was a bitch to remove. i got mine for $130 with a lifetime warranty at oreillys. but i think oreillys is kansas and to the east of US.

Seems like this is will be a great experience. Why must it be so damn difficult on Z, only if they made more space for us lol.

check all three wires coming from pos terminal. yhere ismptoms 1 little blue or black wire that brings juice to inside of car. if bad connection u see those symptoms. also check your grounds.

Also check the date on the last post, which was over two months ago in this case. The mod around here doesn't take kindly to that, just as advice.
