what the hell is a "chevyII"?

getting on the freeway i end up behind what seemed to be some type of muscle car, so i think good, haven't had a nice run in a while(like a week or 2) so we merge on the freeway and he starts punching it and i follow, but i didn't need to try very hard
he's weaving in and out of traffic and i'm just pacing behind him. well a car cut me off and i had to go around it and doing so the bov let loose pretty loud and then i got over next to him and he's looking at me but not doing anything(maybe the bov scared him off) so i just ease off and once i get behind again he hits it
you can see the smoke coming out of his exhaust(and he only had one muffler) i proceed to follow and when i get next to him again he doesnt respond :disappoin whatever, so i just cruise the rest of the way home.

half the reason for this story is to try and found out what the hell it was in the first place. i just never heard of a "chevy II" before. that car is pretty slow to look so aggresive

It's basicly a Chevy Nova FYI. Well, the nova was the higher end chevy II. They only came stock with an I6 so yeah, they didn't have much juice. They got alot more powerful in the mid 60's though.

It is a first generation chevy nova I think. Pretty positive. Its a lead sled for sure, even with a 350 and headers, it runs a mid 14. Nice looking cars though. I prefer the 2nd gen though.

lol. well like they said, it is. its just the earlyer years of a nova. they are actauly lighter than most other chevys of the time, maybe even the lightes but im not sure on that. with some work they can be quite fast. but i gather that one wasnt.

Might of been an old Inline-6...

Or just a old 283, possibly 327.

They're nice to look at that's for sure, but gotta remember with age comes sluggishness. Unless of course somebody freshens it up a bit, then they can be pretty quick.

You usually see a lot of those Chevy II/Nova cars at small time drag strips.

Yeah Chevy II is a popular car to tub & make an 8 out of. The slow one you encountered was most likely stock.

Then what you saw was a '68 Chevy II Nova.

'68 I believe was the last year you would see the Chevy II name on the Nova. After that it was just called the Nova.

Single exhaust, probably a stock I6 or V8.
