alright i was thinking about this the other night and now i'm really fuckin pissed about it.

quick history: my job is pretty much anwsering phones and typing shit into computers. there's only 4 of us that do the job.

2 weeks ago was my HS graduation party, it was on a saturday, i work 6:30-10 saturday nights. i ask him on monday if i can get saturday off because nobody else can fill in for me that night. saturdays are traditionally pretty slow nights, so it's easy to get by with one person.

so he's like, "you're scheduled to work...you have to come in." after i tell him my grad party is that day. so i ask if i can come in at 8 instead of 6:30 and he says yes with the "you're an asshole" look on his face. so i'm pretty pissed off at this point, but i can't afford to get fired, so i just let it go.

i come in saturday at 8 and anwser the phone 3 goddamn times in 2 hours. there is no reason i should have been there.

so the next saturday rolls around (this past saturday) and i come into work and the other kid i work with doesn't show up so i ask the guy in charge if the other kid is coming in. which is when i find out that the same guy that wouldn't let me off for my grad party lets this dick off. i've been here longer than any of the other 3, and i do at the very least double the amount of work this kid does. he's one of the most useless pieces of shit i've ever know.

i haven't gotten a chance to talk to my boss yet, but i'm fucking pissed right now.

if you read all that, congratulations

Your just to damn together... I had the same problem at my last job... They couldn't afford for me to not be there because I was the only one who actually worked and got shit done! Last I heard about 6 weeks after I left they fired EVERYONE in the DEPT because productivity dropped 75% !! They called me asking me to come back and I told them to FUCK OFF!! Best feeling in the world!!

In the future, its perfectly okay to tell a boss to go fuck himself, and quit. Jobs are plentiful, its a matter of getting up and getting one. I quit 4 jobs because I couldnt get sunday mornings off for church. Its that easy.

Good call, except when references come up. It can also be hard to find another job.

Moral: Make sure you have another job lined, up then tell your boss to go fuck himself

That also helps. But if your in HS, references dont really matter, unless you plan on telemarketing for a long time, or whatever it is you do. Same with working at fast food. Its really pointless putting them on applications.

That's true..but it's still resume building. Every bit helps.

Your boss sounds like a dick. From now on don't give him any warning when you're not gonna be there, just call in sick. Problem solved.

Take a few days off and let that asshole realise just how much work you actually do. I had a couple bosses like that, and i walked off those jobs. One of the companies I used to work for offered to hire me back at almost double my original pay because they could not find anyone else who was willing to put up with their shit! With the other company to make up for my loss they pushed everyone so hard that one day 80% of the staff just turned in their uniforms and walked out. That shop is now closed because they wouldnt give their employees any respect and they also screwed us on our pay, we had a kind of commission this were if we met a certain quota we were supposed to get a certain percentage of the sale but they never gave it to us. ASSHOLES!!!

Where I work, people do it all the time. You get 16 points and you're fired. 2 points for each call in, 1 if you come in for a couple of hours and leave. If you work harder than most, they will realize it when you're not there. Even if it's only for 1 day.

It's been my experience that in lower-paid/lower skill jobs, that the harder you work, the more like crap you get treated. I worked fast food in high school. I was always on time, actually DID my work, then ended up doing others' work. But when I wanted a day off, called in sick (only when I really was), or wanted a raise I got crapped on like I was some bum asking for handouts. I endured sexual harassment and comments, verbal abuse, and watch others get promoted ahead of me. My reward in the end was seeing the look on a manager's face when I came in for a visit after I got my job at the lawfirm and he asked me how much I was getting paid....at that time I was making about $3 an hour more than he was, which 10 years ago was a pretty big deal.

If there are only 4 of you working, 3 of them being imcompetant, yuo not being one of those 3. Look for a new job, go through the interview, depending on how good you felt about it, quit the next day, and watch the buisness go in ruins

the business isn't gonna go to ruins...it makes enough money to the point that it's future doesn't depend on me, but it would be a pain in the ass for everyone else if i left.

i see what everyone is saying about them getting pissed because they have to put up with this other kid's shit, but here's the way i see it:

i used to work at a grocery store. i called in sick a couple days last summer. they weren't happy, but they told me to get better before i came back.

i've only called off twice for this job. once because i was hung over (only time that's ever gonna happen, appologized for that one) and once because my car was in the shop until 7:30 (i'm supposed to be in at 6:30). i didn't have access to a phone, so i called in right when i got home and asked if i still had to come in (this was before the hangover incident BTW). he said no, but then proceeded to yell at me for 5 minutes. the next day i came in he threatened to fire me.

so pretty much, my experience has been at a place where i really am just a number, they treat you good enough, but at this place where i really make their lives easier, they treat me like shit.

i would quit this job too, but i'm leaving for college in 5 weeks and nobody will hire me if i'm gonna leave that soon.

once again, sorry for the long post
