cold air vs. short ram intake

Which of these intakes is better? What are the differences? Im looking at the injen cold air and short ram on clubrsx.com

CAI's have a different peak volumetric efficiency when compared to SRI. In simple english, a CAI will increase low-end throttle response while a SRI will surpass the CAI at higher rpms. At very high rpm, both will "even out" and produce damn near equal gains. For the average daily driver, the CAI will make you happy, as most of your time will be spent in the low range. If you race you might want to go with the short ram, but that is my opinion. All I can say is research facts and don't listen to ad hype or people who do. Then make an informed decision.

What intake would be best for everyday use, but fast take off from stop lights etc... and fast driving all around

CAI's because of the lack of heat soak. However watch out for the big puddles.

I would probably recommend the CAI from what I've read. It seems that the TypeS engine gets very hot and using an SRI will most likely cause heat soak like crazy said.

The only thing is that installing a CAI is a bit harder than an SRI since you have to take bumpers off and relocate wiper fluid bottles.

I personally have an SRI installed and it was very easy to put in. It only took about 1.5 hours. I haven't noticed any heat soak, but since the intake is at the rear of the engine bay, it is taking in much more hotter air than a CAI would.

SRI --> easier install +, heat soak -
CAI --> harder install -, no heat soak +, possible hydrolock -

Actually, there will be a noticeable gain, more consistent and more so on the CAI.
