Alright you all know the dash light that looks like a little house, its the Engine coolant level warning light. Well when i first start my car up it will rev to about 1000 then usually if i dont give it a litttle gas it likes to drop around 500 rpms, and that light and the battery light come on and alot of times it will die out, sometimes the light comes on for a second and then disappears, this also happens when i reverse then go to shift into 1st, even with the clutch in it will stall out on me. I checked the coolant level and it is fine so anybody have any clues whats going on?

check your TPS (throttle position sensor). There should be a little screw that you can turn which will increase/decrease your RPM. It's exact whereabouts I can't tell you, but I'm sure someone can. That should solve your problem. at least thats my best guess. Good luck

Doesn't that basically just set the idle so i can set it to around 750 or so, im thinking the lights just come on just because it drops so low but who knows.

on the 1.8 the idle adjustment is the stop screw on the throttle cable bracket. if your familiar with the turbos it in the same place as the closed throttle position switch

tighten it and it goes up, loosen it and it goes down. Idle should be at about 780.

According to the book the idle should be at around 675-875. I too had the same problem, if its not the coolant, check the TPS. If it works fine by the book, then check the coil...your problem sounds exactly like mine...but im out of town and havent had a chance to fix it.
