I'm the guy below that posted on my check engine light. The guy before me said he replaced the catalytic converter because it was cracked. I don't know how much they cost but anyways. The check engine light is still on but I hear it may have to do with the sensors. I'm going to get the codes read at Auto Zone for free like everyone says but I have one more question. In the past 3 weeks my car has died 2 times. It runs great but today and 3 weeks ago it died on me (I think that its a stupid problem or I may have bumped something inside that did it). It was like I started it up after work, when past a stop sign and then stopped again, and the steering got real tight and I couldn't accelerate. It did it again in almost the same way. No odd sounds. Nothing really. I'm not sure why it does it but it's not frequent and it doesn't bother me but I would like to prevent damage for the future. Anyone have any guesses.

PS. It's a 97 Probe Base with 95k on it. AT.

It starts up clean and great right after it died those 2 times.

I just recently bought a 95 probe and when I bought it, I was having trouble getting it to start and it was dying so I replaced a fuse that cost about $50.00. My check engine light was also coming on and I had that checked and it was the O2 sensor in the head pipe which cost about $130.00 and the Resonator assembly which was about $150.00, but with all of the labor and little parts it cost almost $390.00, plus my Flex section of the head pipe is going bad, but I couldn't afford to get that fix at the moment, so if you haven't had it checked out, you may want to do it soon because it will guzzle gas until the O2 sensor is fixed(if that is even the problem). I hope that this helped you with your car problems. -Britt
