Deville Draining Battery

Well, this problem has been going on for the past few days. The battery dies overnight. Last night put a older fully charged battery in, ran like a champ. Then come this morning had to jump start the car. It runs fine so the alternator might not be a significant problem. But my grandmother had an older cadillac that would have the same problem. She finally took it to the shop and it was a fuse or something. so the mechanic jerry-rigged a switch to turn off the power to that part.( oyea i think it was for the power antenna, because that broke, so i guess it would waste battery trying to move it up and down.) my car also has the power antenna but newer GM radio so maybe, the antenna is broke also?

Go to the antenna motor which is right under the antenna and unplug everything from it. Since it doesnt work why have it hooked up? If that doesnt work then it might be something else that stays on. On my merceds I took out the radio and somehow it kept draining the mattery even though the power wire wasnt hooked upto anything. I took the fuse out for the radio now its fine.

yea i was just told he thinks it was already unplugged. is there a quick way to check the fuses? and which draws the most power, during the OFF period.

took it to autozone, they tested the battery, it was a bad battery and would not hold a charge. so you think i should buy a new one and that will be a start if not solution to fixing the car. lol a dead battery, what a waste of time. why is it always something stupid, or right in front of you.

Because the stupid things are always the problem, or the hardest to do. I say just buy some cheap-o battery and see if that fixes the problem. If not I would still check if the ant-ina is pluged in. The fuses are under your steering where where your feet go (I think, thats how it is on my car) You can take a flashlight and shine it up there and see them. But if you really want to inspect them take needle-nose pliers and pull each one out. Just remember where it goes.

might as well spend it on a good battery right. because either way i need one. i might put a nice system in there one day. so i want the extra power. how many cold cranking amps do i need as a minimum?

got a recycled battery from interstate for 20 bucks and it runs like a champ. starts every time. hopefully i fixed the problem. Thanks for the help everyone its greatly appreciated.
