agggg a loss-camry vs eclipse!

I was drivin round with one of my friends when i see a red 1st gen eclipse in my rearview weaving its way around the few cars behind me...i look in front of me and the road is clear. I look at my gas gauge. Damn. Almost on E. "Oh what the hell!" I say as i remember i get 30 to the gallon.

The dude is 3 cars behind me closing. I floor it to get up to his speed (about 60). He sees what im doing and pauses beside me for a few. Im laughing my ass off as is my friend. It was an automatic n/a 1st gen eclipse (he has his right hand at 12 oclock on the steering wheel, duh!). He looked over, grinned, and floored it. I followed suit.

The camry shifted and hit the higher rpms (im not quite sure as to what rpms those may be since the camry has no tach) and started to uhhh "go" (if thats what you would call it). The clips allready had a half a car on me and continued to pull everso slightly. I noticed the damn thing smoking ha ha. I was approaching 80 and i decided to cut off (it was a 45 zone). The dude had 2 cars on me by 80. I was thinking "well i didnt do so bad, now did i!"

HA HA oh the joys of no power!

Clif notes:
Raced a 1st gen automatic n/a eclipse (in bad condition) up to 80 where he pulled 2 cars
Burned more gas than i could spare
Laughed harder than i have in a long time

Get a V6 Camry like mine. It's certainly not fast but it'll burn N/A 4-banger Eclipses :)

don't feel bad, i lost to a n/a eclipse in my moms v6 24valve contour sport. well i won one out of 3 but yea, i know how it feels

the trick with the old shitty eclipses is to race em at higher speeds. i raced one (in shitty condition) in my Corolla on the freeway from like 80-100 and the one i raced topped out at like 95...i was pullin on him by 90, but he wasn't going any faster at 95.

so next time you see him, get him on the freeway...the camry may get horrible acceleration, but the top speed is higher

i can get my camry up to 95 no problem...100 is possible going downhill...im glad i dont take my camry seriously!

I would like to race you with my family's beater car a 1990 ford taurus. it's pretty slow but it ride's damn smooth and doesen't have too bad of a top end for an old ass boat. I have to drive it sometime's when my car has some downtime here and there but its no biggie that thing is fun!

thats the thing that gets me about the camry...a lot of people with their beaters are like "the pos shakes anywhere above 80"....the camry is just as smooth at 100 as it is at 30 ha ha. Im thinkin bout gettin a cheapo cone filter so i can hear that shit at the higher rpms

you tell a good story. try to be safe. its a good thing you know that your car isnt fast, i wonder why the other driver thought so differently about his car?

I used to drive a 92 corolla and it topped out at 108, no shaking just couldnt go any faster.

baah bump that, the camry wont have a single dime put into it (beyond what it takes to keep it running!)

my buddy had one of those cars in high school we used to cut school in it all the time.........those cars arent that bad...........
