Broken Crank Sensor

Hi all.

I have a 91 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 3.1L. I had some issues with it that all point to the crank sensor. Those issues are now the least of my problems. While attemting to remove the crank sensor it broke off. a good inch and a half of it remains within the block and is sunk about a quarter of an inch in. I've tried everything I can think of to remove it, however it seems it will slip in deeper but it won't come out. Am I missing something?

ANY INFO IS APPRECIATED!

A lot of my friends vehicles have a broken crankshaft position sensor and they have to remove the oil pan to get the rest of the broken pieces.

You might be able to remove the sensor by using a more powerful magnet and see if it pulls back out a bit so you can grab it with a long nose plier.

Thanks Slade.
I've been avoiding removing the oil pan. I was hopeing there would be an easier way. I'm pretty sure a magnet wouldn't work I've tried threading a thin bolt into the sensor and extracting it with a screw driver and vice grips. It's in there so tight that after awhile of tuging on it the bolt will pull out.
