Simply breathtaking.

Welcome to AF, glad to have you here. I've only seen a couple of pics of your McLaren in Tamiya magazines- I didn't know you had more posted on your website. I'm sure I'll enjoy them.

I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your work here!

on the first picture...are the front dampers and the "screws" all seperate parts??

Any chance you will give us a complete runthru (pics hopefully) of how you build your models from beginning to end? I checked your site and all i saw where painting tutorials. Either way your models are simply amazing. How long have you been building for???

I have a diary on the go right now with a Treasure Hunt 1/20 Jordan EJ10 on my website, but I'm at a stalemate right now...I hope to get back at it soon. This website is starting to give me inspiration to get back into the model shop!!!

Yes, everything is completely seperate...There is probably over 600 photoetch nuts, bolts and washers on this model alone!!!

Hey, what's this model of the year contest? Again, thanks all for your inspiring comments.

Here's one more pic...

Fantastic Mp4/6 Bil,

Worthy award winner at TamiyaCon '03.

I read your post on your trip to Japan on another forum. Sounds like you had a great time and went home with a lot more then you left with.

Did you leave the MP4/6 at Tamiya's office like previous winners ? I don't know that I could part with a model that I had spent so many hours building, award winner or not.

Can't wait to see your future efforts.

Cheers
Craig

Craig,

Probably much to Mr. Tamiya's dismay, I could not find it in me to leave this model in Japan knowing I would never see it again. I hate to break tradition, but that's the way it goes!!!

wow!! over 600 parts?! THATS INSANE! Man that is the coolest/best model ive ever seem.

Just to clarify, that's just 600 or so nuts and bolts. I wouldn't hesitate to guess that there is well over 2500 hundred parts on this model.

No, this is not photos of the real car, but I do consider that the ultimate compliment. Thanks.

Looks very nice!

So how much did the PE nuts and bolts cost? I need a bunch of them for my 1/6 scratchbuild but I calculated that it will cost me about $230USD.

Mike,

Not too sure what they all cost...I just buy them whenever I see them and/or need them. I use MCG, SMS, PP, R&MofM and whatever else I get my hands on.

I can get away with photoetch for 1/12 scale, they would be too 2 dimensional for 1/6...Have you tried Galtran for your NBW's?

I noticed in the article the use of PPDK parts, Can you let me know what/who they are and if possible a weblink. Thanks
BTW why did they have to blur the Marlboro Logos :(

Welcome, Bil! I hope you'll stick around for a while, because I bet you'd have plenty to share. ;)

This model is unbelievable, Unfortunately I didn't go to TamiyaCon 2003 to see it for real but I look at it at least once a week on your web site Bil!

I'm going to start building this same kit when my brake set arrives, I vowed I would never build it until I had all the detail parts! I will be starting a progress thread on the build later this year and it will be great to have the builder of this one watching my progress, and hopefully making suggestions, If mine ends up half as good as this I'll be more than happy!!

Steve,

Thanks for the compliments. These were very hard to come by, but racing miniatures out of Vancouver area is now going to be handling Perfect Parts. They can be found at:
http://www.racingminiatures.com/securestore/

Get your order in quick, because they will sell out.

They blurred the Marlboros because of the crackdown on tobacco advertising laws over in the UK...sucks eh? Oh well, at least they didn't edit them right off and you know they are there!

Take Care

I think so Mike. It would seem Bil is the only guy to ever build this kit as a Gerhard Berger rather than Ayrton Senna car

Absolutely incredible model (that word seems somehow inadequate in this instace :p) Do you wanna sell that Formula Perfect book Bil? Surely you don't need it anymore :)

Hey Phil,

Everyone has built Senna's ride, I guess I wanted to be different. I did have two Formula Perfect Books on the MP4/6, but I sold one after the model was finished. The other one is still brand new as are the rest of the collection...so to answer your question, no. It will always be part of this model and I will not seperate them. Sorry.

Thanks for the praise!!!

Bill...do you remember where you got that 747 model? Ive been looking for something new to do and a Commercial Airplane seems fun. With your vast modeling knowledge (i know big words!!) do you know of any Commercial Cruise Ship models?

another thing...in your workshop pics...is that the S2000 you posted earlier?

Just another way in which your model is perfect. Gerhard won the first GP I ever attended so is something of a favourite of mine.

I bought the 747 at a local hobby shop...It's the only plane I have...really, I promise. I have a very unique set of decals that I obtained that will convert it into the Qantas F1 747

To all the af members who haven't seen the McLaren in person, it is a truly amazing build. I was at TamiyaCon 2003 and picked it as the winner that morning before it was selected as best of show. What people don't know is that if Bill had not entered the McLaren he still would've won with the equally amazing Ferrari. Bill, do you have any pics of the Ferrari.

As a matter of fact, I just took 90 photos of the Ferrari last night. I will post a few here soon after I publish then on my website.
