Bark worst than it's bite?

Ever heard of the old saying, "Bark much worst than it's bite." Well I believe there are some cars out there that suffer from this stigma. Meaning there are cars that just look like they are really fast and turn out not to be that fast. What cars do you think suffer from the "Bark much worst than it's bite" stigma.

My choices are all the Non-Turbo Supras, 300ZXs, and 3000GTs, not that these cars are slow, but when I see them I often think of the Turbo models that are much faster and look almost exactly the same. The RX-8 is another car that comes to mind, looks pretty sweet, but isn't really as fast as it looks. But my top choice is the Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Maruader. The Thunderbird looks sweet and does look like it has some oomph to it, but it really would have trouble leaving a Accord V6, let alone a SVT Cobra. The Maruader has all the stats that make it seem like it would be bad ass, 300HP+ V8 and etc. But in reality it is actually slower than the Thunderbird.

I would agree with the Marauder it's look like a modern harking of the big mean true Muslce cars of the 60's but other than it's clean sleek look(for a big 4-door sedan) it has no bite.

The thunderbird does not really say screamer to me but old person cruiser so I don't think it has much bark and I know it has no bite.

I would have to say prowler. kind of a chintzy rendition(sp) of a hotrod. needs more power!

my freeking firebird. thing looks like a rocket. Has a really cool cowl. Cool rims, nice ground effects, but feels like it would get smoked by a golf cart. I love it though!

I would say the new celica's based on there looks. Just like there slogan said "they only look like they are going fast".

maybe the Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS. Though I think they are great cars(and I personaly want one). They look like a WRX hood scoop, spoiler and all but they arent that fast in stock form.
still great cars though :)

Must agree with the Celica comment...People see a Celica Gt and go ohhhh that car is fast because it looks fast...all 140hp...The only other one that comes to mind is the Hyundai Tiburon. I think it looks nice, but the base model is weak as hell, but thats really what you expect from such an affordable car

the new MR2 convertible. Looks like a damn exotic, but a late-model mr2 could never even touch one from 10 years ago, or any other half-decent car

maybe not in a drag strip(against only a turbo mr2 though) but Toyota did not make them to be a dragqueen muscle car. It's a super lightweight car that handles amazyingly. They are one of the best handling cars on the market.
But I agree they do kinda look like they where designed by taking notes from the Carrera GT. (I still love the way they look though )

Good list. Some of those cars suffer because of the faster version of said car. You take those away and they probably don't make it on the list.

Very, very true.

mr2 spyder is probably the biggest to me. then the celica. supra's don't really look to mean to me stock in the first place.

The Supra looks like a damn shark from the front, but in an odd way, not a menacing way.

Agreed to all. The T-Bird looks like a nice personality tho, not mean. Unless the 83-96 or w/e generation of the SC coupe and whatnot, those look serious. i hav a beef with the new eclipse. It looks next to exotic, but its not so fast after all. really wished it had atleast 300hp as the concept car promised........too bad......

I would have to say that a stock Mustang makes the list. All of the V-6 models with the hood/side scoops that aren't functional. I suppose the four-bangers from the early 90's make that list too just because of the Mustangs that came before them. Just my opinion though.

in regardes to post #7, i agree with you on the celica gt, but disagree on the hyundai tiruron comment. Have u even drove this car yet? I have a bone stock 2002 model, i have won an 92' prelude w/ j spec motor, and 92 thunderbird supercoupe, so i would say your wrong about this car, it is fast and furious.

its not that slow, but fast and furious? funny...

It's not that the Hyundai Tiburon is slow, it's that it looks a lot faster than what it is - a 15-second sport coupe.
