Cold running problem

I have a 99 gsx with 60k that has trouble when cold. no check engine light is on but when the weather is really cold outside and the motor is cold there seems to be alot of turbo lag until the engine gets warm. if it is hot or warm out, the car runs like a champ with no lag so i don't think it is the turbo. Last winter when it was around 10 degrees out, i would push the gas and the car would sputter forward until i pulled over and let the engine warm up. then it ran fine. it has all new plugs/wires, k&n air filter (clean), intake cleaned and a recent harmonic balancer installed. any advice?

Advice: Don't drive until it warms up.
This isn't momma's olds, this is a turbocharged vehicle.

You not warming it up must be great for your engine.

:iagree:
I ALWAYS let my car warm up to normal operating temp before I go driving. It's a good habit to get into, especially in the cold winters. If you live somewhere where the weather is cold almost year 'round, then I'd suggest getting a remote starter so you can warm your car up without having to get in it! :)

The remote starter is a great idea. It will only cost you about 100 bucks. or you can save the hundred bucks and take your lazy ass out and start the car your damn self. it's up to you. I, of course, would get the remote starter cause I"m a lazy ass!
Although the car is fairly new, you have to realize that just about any car (especially old and turbo'ed) need a chance to get ready. Imagine if someone came in to your room in the morning and kicked you in the balls and then expected you to run your ass off like a champ instantly. Wouldn't happen. You'd need time to wake up. it's the same with your car. after kicking it in the balls... give it a chance to wake up. then you can ride the hell out of it. Good luck.

LOL... somehow i don't think that comparison works, but oh well... good point.
just don't rev your RPM pass 3K before it gets to the operating temp. once it gets up there, play as hard as you want.

ok....so you all think i am lazy...well...i have owned turbo cars for quite some time and none required the warm-up time that the eclipse has RECENTLY required. I generally warm the car up for 5 minutes or longer yet recently when first running it, it stumbles and sort of gasps until it get's totally warm.... this is unacceptable considering it never needed this kind of warm-up.
Additionally, my '93 MR2 Turbo with 230k original miles on the original turbo has not experienced the same problem (yes I am the original owner). I can start it in 10F and within 30 sec. drive it with no problems. Of course it does not have awd for the snow......lol.
I think i should once again re-iterate that this is a recent problem and not just winter related. it could be 50 out and still exhibit the same problems. Any real solutions except warm up the car until operating temp would be appreciated. There has to be a reason for the recent change. Thanks.

It probably has something to do with you NOT warming it up.
Obviously your grasp on this concept is limitied if present at all, and I will not attempt to furthur assist you.
If I told you I was putting regular octane, and I had a detonation issue that just recently got worse you would tell me to use better gas, right?
Same applies here. Do it right.

Fine you can drive the cars with no problem without warming the car up. To you it seems fine but really you are just fucking the car! And now you have to warm it up otherwise it will drive like shit.
There has to be a reason for the recent change. Thanks.
The reason is that you have not warmed up the car in the past.
I warm up my car and it is a NT hell if I had a honda I would warm that up too.

Patient:"Doctor, it hurts when I do this..." *motions with arm*
Doctor: "Don't do that."
