squealing noise?

My sportage is making a squealing noise, and someone suggested to me it was a belt....is this something I should be able to diagnose and fix myself, or should I take it to a shop? I appreciate any input anyone can give me!!!

belts and sportages are a pita to install. the power steering belt specifically since to get the thing off it is just easiest to cut it. to reinstall it you have to slide it up between teh tensioner and the pulley since they are so tightly packed in there. to get teh tensioner tight you have to use a 12" extension with a swivel extension and a swivel socket on it while using a pry bar to hold the tension by prying against the pump.

take it to a shop. i have had to replace many of these for squealing when they were still under warranty and i can honestly say that no backyard mechanic should ever touch this job. it may be just belts butit is probably one of the worst designs ever to have to work around.
