Took off from Florida in the '97 Rodeo with 139K on Friday and made it to Connecticut 1300 miles and 24 hours later. Only caualties: 1) one foot of the front roofrack crossmember broke at 85 mph at 4 AM in SC, and 2) took a rock off the windshield at 80mph in DC. Has anyone else had a roofrack failure? I'm glad it didn't happen with my longboard attached. It's interesting to note that it's cheaper to replace the entire crossmember versus replacing just the 2 feet on either side.

Make sure you check your oil.

Checked the oil at every fillup. I added about one-quarter of a quart the entire way (1350 miles). Over 140K miles and still running strong! The window medic just repaired the windshield with a UV cured resin in about 20 minutes. I'm just hoping to avoid the expansion of the crack.
The OEM racks seem pretty flimsy. Did you install the jc whitney racks yourself?

Update:
Pete's Auto Sales in Nashua, NH, got the proper parts. It was very easy to install the 2 new stantions. I was able to haul the soft luggage carrier from NH to FL without trouble, though I rarely broke 80 mph this time around. I think the old ones were brittle from the FL heat.
I had to replace the rear pads in CT. I used the OE ceramic pads by Reybestos. Only one caliper bolt was corroded. For the $56 they give you new shims and some caliper bolt lube. The el cheapo pads I replaced only lasted about 30K.
My nephew broke the back passenger regulator by pushing the window down (wanted to wring his neck). $120 at the dealer in Ft. Myers for a new one. I'll pick it up and install it tomorrow.
Burned nearly no oil on the return trip. Added only half a quart over the 3923 miles traveled. I'll treat her to an oil change tomorrow.
