What's going on here?

I just "decarbonized" my 89 REX DX with B12 Chemtool. It's a bsic pour in the oil cap liquid that supposedly removes carbon buildup in the engine. My D15B2 smokes a good bit and I know I'll be either rebuilding or replacing it in the future so I figured what the heck why not try the chemtool. The car smoked like crazy for a good while and it even stumbled when I was running the engine with the stuff in it. After shutting the car off, changing the oil and restarting, I could tell an imediate difference. the car sems a bit more peppy, the idle is smoother and now she barely smokes. To test it out, I frequently go on a road trip that consumes about 1/2 quart of oil. I did the trip after the Chemtool and interestingly, I barely used any oil. Could the carbon buildup really have caused that much oil consumption? How could this be?

.... looks like im gonna have my motor longer than i expected...

how many miles has your motor done??? and no it wont be the carbon which is causing oil loss, your either loosing it through a leak or burning it through worn piston rings etc

ya, the carbon will cause performance loss, but like 16valver said I dont think it would really have anything to do with burning oil
