i finally got rid of my 1990 300zx 2+2, sold for 2,925 dollars on ebay with a bad cylinder. i was looking for lt1 trans ams, but came across a 96 z28 with 49k miles for 9,000 dollars.... the car was garage kept and has never seen rain, its dark teal with the A4 and is absolutely beautiful. my main question is my problem with traction, tires have about 70% tread but wont hook at all in first gear, in fact theyll spin all the way through first and chirp second. even when i try to lightly feather onto the gas they still break loose. i was thinking about getting the nitto's, but was wondering if there was anything else i could do to help with the traction problem. any help is appreciated, thanks

Rear suspension is the key!
get some good Lower control arms and Lower control arm Relocation brackets, then get an aftermarket panhard bar as well. these alone will do big things for traction! then toss the hard tires that are probably on the car for some stickier ones. BFG makes a great drag radial, but they wear quickly. Mickey Thompson has a DR out now as well, but I am sure it is softer than the BFG. The nitto DR's last much longer. They give plenty of traction for a stock/bolt on LT1 car.

um, well not to down my babies, but it shouldnt be spinning the tires at part throttle, sounds like a bad TPS perhaps?? some sort of engine control problem. if thats what the problem is, i doubt better tires will help.
