Out of these two cars which one is the better one?
Car: 2000 Acura Integra Type-R
Horsepower: 195.0 bhp @ 8000 rpm
Torque: 130.0 ft/lbs @ 7500 rpm
Redline: 8500 rpm
Transmission: 5-Speed Manual
Performance:
Top Speed: 143.0 mph
0 - 30 mph: 2.9 seconds
0 - 60 mph: 6.5 seconds
0 - 100 mph: Not Available
1/4 mile: 14.7 seconds
Car: 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
Horsepower: 175.0 bhp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 180 ft/lb @ 4000 rpm
Redline: 6200 rpm
Transmision: 6-Speed Manual
Performance:
Top Speed: 130 mph
0-30 mph: 2.4 seconds
0-60 mph: 7.3 seconds
0-100 mph: 20.5 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.63 seconds
Ok Those are the cars and their stats, I got all of the info from Car And Driver
So we know that both of the stats are the stock ones
My friend has been trying to convince me that a SE-R could beat a Type R. I thought that he was right until I looked this up. I'm not sure if the Integra's top speed is in theroy or what? I don't know.
But anyway what do you guys think... I kinda think that the Nissan is still better- but I am biased twards Nissan.

as much as i dislike them it would have to go to the type r, but the type r is also alot harder to get and alot more money so.....ha. spent the same amout of money turbocharging and tuning the nissan and it will win, but type r, would win stock vs. stock.

This is hardly a fair comparo...the ITR is the best FWD handling car period!
A more fair comparo might be the S14 Siliva since it's around the time of the ITR and has better power than the SE-R Spec V...handles better too

I know that the comapro isn't quite fair but I didn't think that the 200 Acura Integra Type R V.S. 2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4 would we as fair as this.. The neon is Turbocharged, has 215 hp and can go 153mph!

Well...as to the SRT vs. the ITR...the ITR would out handle it but lose on a straightaway...I'd take the ITR regardless...better interior, motor, build, suspension, better exterior...

Between the Integra R and the SE-R Spec-V I think those numbers from C&D speak for themselves.

I dunno, the Prelude Type SH with that ATTS shit is pretty nice.

But it still gets owned by it's lil bro...considering it has about the same HP (195 vs. 200)...I know the torque is different...but not by that much...(IIRC 15-20 lbs of TQ)...but key difference...about 250-300 lbs in curb weight...
ITR > Lude SH

Nissan actually used the ITR as a benchmark when developing the SE-R.
Track times between the ITR and SE-R Spec V were almost identical, according to Sport Compact Car.

The numbers do speak for themselves, the Integra Type R is the better all around performance car period. Still give it sometime, and I'm sure the next generation Spec R will be great, I'm hoping it get's more power to go head to head with the SRT-4 and WRX in the straights or atleast be able to hang with them. Does anybody have any info on the next generation Spec R?

how does the GS-R stack up to the SpecV?

GS-R compared to Spec R is a much closer match, I would take the Spec R over the GS-R.

Me too man...SE-R over GS-R...although the GS-R aftermarket is astronomical...I'd be unique and take the SE-R...

plus a SE-R would be newer, so you'd be getting newer electronics and a better interior. And better looks imo. GSR is faster though, right? and it doesnt have that nasty stock torque issue

I just gotta add that the top speed is one of the few things that I dont really care much about when shopping for a car. how often you gonna go 153? or even 130 in the nissan?
but how often are you gonna hos it from a stoplight to the speed limit just for fun or up to 80 or so when street racing? probably WAY more often.
and the spec V has all that torque and getrs of the line and up to 30 a bit quicker, but as those stats show, form then on the ITR is gonna own it hands down as long as you can drive.

acura is honda's line of "superior" vehicles. the fact that nissan is being compared to acura and not honda is a testament to nissan as a company. the type-r will most likely own a spec in every feasible manner, but it also cost near 30K brand new. you can pick up a 2004 SE-R for the slightly more than a used 00-01 ITR, and can have a new car warranty and the backing of nismo through the dealership.
SE-R vs Civic SI and Spec-v vs. GSR are more fair comparo's.

faster in what way? because it has been proven over and over that a Spec-V can take a Si in a road course. something really close to a Spec is the RSX Type-S. they are about the same in overall. but the SE-R out handles it! :iceslolan

Im sure he meant straightline speed. and I would take a RSX-S WAY before a spec V. looks SO much better.

Nissan needs desperatly to make the maxima a rwd. I have heard that the new cars are just too powerful for the fwd configuration

yeah, i agree, i would say the same for the new acura TL's as well.
most pople who consider rear wheel drive vehicles and also consider maxima's usually end up in an infiniti G35. same power, better drivetrain platform for performance, and stylish as hell.

The G35 looks so much smaller though.
I wonder if both acura and nissan are waiting for the other one to make the jump to a rwd config. Nobody wants to be first.
With drifting becoming so popular, the maxima would make a really strange looking drifter. You would need alot more power though, I think.

Infiniti is re-releasing their M45 (http://www.config.infiniti.com/img/m/config/i/csx_mco_06_c31_lg.jpg), which has the 345 hp 4.5L V8 and their new M35 which comes with the VQ35 tuned to 270+ and it's RWD. you can also get the v6 in AWD. you can build one here (http://www.config.infiniti.com/redirect.jsp?model=mco&year=2006&zip=12603&option=_TE_V6RS&flow=miniconfig&rpl=true)
It's pricey but i see it as a look towards possible plans for the maxima. nissan likes to use the same platform in a lot of their cars, so i'd guess that they're goining to let the altima be their FWD sedan to replace the current maxima and change the next generation Maxima to a RWD sedan, this way they can have a car to cover more of the consumer market.
that being said, we're a bit OT. :)
