I blew the head gasket in my 1987 civic 4door, it was the 1.5 liter cvcc "16" valve head. the head had a bent valve and some studs were broken. I went to a parts yard and do not know which head i got, it runs fine but i would still like to know. it is from an 86 CRX with 12 valves.

either the crx si or a canadian model crx w/o the cvcc stuff. if you saw the car it came from perhaps you remember whether or not it had a sunroof and was fuel injected? if so it was an si. if it was carb it was probably the canadian model. the si head on a dx block will give you lower compression but the canadian 12 valve one will not

im not sure if the compression went down or not, but it might have. I didn't see the car, it was from a lot where they just had 'em on shelf. Thanx for the input though. The tag just said 86 CRX, and i live in northern washington, so im still not sure which one it is. i don't know if there was a diference between the spark plug angles or not, but this one they were at almost a 35 degree angle pointing toward the piston.
Also, would you happen to know how much it lowered compresion ratio?

i don't know the exact numbers. try searching at http://www.redpepperracing.com/forums , it has been brought up a number of times over there. you will probably even find pictures of each. from what i understand the combustion chambers are different enough to tell by eye (that's if you remember what the head looks like on the inside)
