Hey everyone??? Since nobody posts on the Datsun forum...is it possible to do a motor swap on a 1969-1973 Datsun 510??? If so, how much will it cost, and can it be equipped with Nissan 350Z parts??? When i mean parts...i mean like the Greddy TT kit and AEBS 4.3 Stroker Kit???

The width of the VQ might be a factor, since it's a DOHC motor. I've seen VG swaps before, but they were the narrower SOHC version. Do you know if anyone has been able to swap a DOHC VG into the 510? If that can be done, a VQ can probably be done, too. This probably hasn't been done very often, possibly not at all. That means you'll need custom work done.
If you use a VQ30, you can use some 350Z parts, but not all. One problem is that US-spec VQ30s were fwd, and are much older than the VQ35. The VQ30s are the first generation VQs, and they didn't have CVTC(continuously variable cam timing).
You'll need a rwd tranny for one thing, and you can use an '01+ Pathfinder's VQ35 tranny(might as well get the longblock, too). They will be fairly plentiful, and somewhat cheap. If you've got the cash, you can use a tranny from a 350Z or G35, which will probably have better ratios.
There might be issues with the turbo kit simply because it would be going in a 510, not a 350Z. Another factor is that the engine bay will be tight, since you're putting a DOHC V6 in an engine bay intended for an I4. The swap alone may take up too much room, and not allow for a twin turbos on top of that. You might have to go with one of the superchargers, since they are more compact.
The stroker kit might work on the VQ30, but since you won't have the bigger bore of the VQ35(.2L more than the VQ30, and you can't bore the motor yourself), the resulting displacement would 'only' be about 4.1L or so. The sleeves included with the kit might not fit, either.
If you really want to get the stroker kit and get the full benefit of it, just get a VQ35 to be on the safe side.
