Well my timing belt is tight from the back (towards the dirver) but its extremely loose from the front (towards the headlights)could this be why my car doesnt start? If so how do i tighten it?

crank it to tdc and see if the marks on the cam gear(s) and the crank pulley are where they're supposed to be.. if they are, that's not your problem..if so, maybe it skipped a tooth or two..

Are the lines on the cam gear supposed to align with the one on the crank pulley?Ive never delt with a timing problem

with the #1 piston at TDC, the crank pulley should have a white mark facing up, and your cam gears have a mark on them that should face upwards but at a very slight angle with the facing of the motor itself.

When I first did my headgasket I had this same problem. But my car still started and ran. It really scared me when I noticed it, because it was slapping around all over the place. So all I did was I loosened the tensioner bolt and turn the crank clockwise(i think) and that tightened her up real good. Havent had any problems since.
