grand am transmission

i need to know if anyone knows the answer to this for sure (not a "i think so") - if the automatic trans from a 97 grand am with 3.1L (automatic overdrive trans) is the same trans that is in the 95 grand am with 3.1L (also automatic overdrive trans).

Going by my chilton book yes they are the same the 3.1L V6's mate to a 4T60E
