What can i do to tune a '93 Convertable LX 4Cyl?

What can i do to tune a '93 Convertable LX? It has a 4 cyl. engine and no enhancements other than an added alarm system.

there are a LOT of parts out for the 2.3l stangs, and they turbo well, do a google search you will get LOTS of stuff

Not saying it's a good idea, but I know a guy who stuck a turbo from a Grand National in a 4 cylinder Mustang. Boosted 26 pounds, and the motor held up pretty well until he blew a head gasket. I believe boost is the way to go with 4 cylinder Mustangs.

The n/a 2.3s don't turbo well. But you can swap in a 2.3T from an SVO/TurboCoupe/Merkur.

Personally, unless the chassis is MINT, I'd sell it and buy something with more potential. A vert is heavier than a coupe and has more chassis flex. Not what you want if you're looking for performance.

I don't want to sound like an ass, but maybe a 5.0 would help. I have had 3 4-cyl cars and i know from experience that they are damn near impossible to get any amount of enjoyable performance. Granted none of them were sports cars to begin with, and did not have a very large following, it would still be easyer to get performance with the 5.0. The only downside to this swap would be how much time and money do you want to put into your car?

just going on his nick, avatar, and sig i'd say this guy isn't exactly into Mustang performance and therefore wouldn't be too hot on the idea of a 302 swap :grinno: . lol. regardless, it's cool that you want to do something with it instead of just trash it.

anyway, there's a couple things you can do. like take the head off and hog it out a whole bunch. focus on the exhaust side, as the intake side is actually quite large already. i'd say the biggest performance limiters on a motor like that are the exhaust, fuel delivery, and most importantly the TINY little cam. a bigger cam and some roller followers would make a huge difference. they do have decent displacement for a 4-banger.
