crazy swap question

I own a 97 2.0 liter GTI. i have searched for ways to get power gains, but the only reasonable thing seems to be swapping out this 2L motor. i was wondering if anyone has swapped in the 2.0L 16v from the A2 GTI?? if you have any info on this let me know. i could get the motor cheap.
