keyless

i have a 01 sentra, but it didn't come w/ keyless entry. i was wondering how i can find out if my car is equipped w/ a keyless entry system. if i bought a remote and programmed it would it work?

I have the same problem. Bought a '01 Sentra GXE but didn't come with remote keyless/alarm. I looked in manual and it said there's supposed to be a security light on the windshield by the passenger side. For me, it's a little square piece of plastic about 1.5" by 1.5". I pryed it off but shows no light. Dealer told me I can bring it back and have on installed for cheap (less than $100). Do you know if remote keyless entry INCLUDES the alarm?

it probably doesnt include the alarm, a lot of cars that have keyless just have the keyless entry system, there will be an alarm that goes off if you unlock the car with the key instead of the remote, or if you try to lock the car, when the door is open, or if you hit the panic button, but more than likely, it wont come with an alarm that will detect people bumping into it, or trying to open the door, etc... so yes, and no... thats just what ive seen on most saturn keyless systems though, they kind of have an alarm, but they kind of dont... contact the dealer and see what you can get installed, but i have a feeling if its under 100 bucks and that includes installation cost, then its probably just the keyless system... anyone correct me if im wrong...

first you're giong to want to find out if your car is equipped with the actual system.. if its just a matter of someone lost the remote and you need a new one, then yeah you could probably get one programmed, if the car isnt equipped with the system you would need to get it installed...

from my understanding now, after discussing with a few ppl, is that the GXE should be equipped with a FACTORY alarm. This consists of keyless entry and an alarm that sounds only when the door is opened without first disarming the alarm. Kinda cheesy if you ask me but better than nothing. Plus the autolock does nothing.
How much would an immobilizer cost me?

Hey, i have an 01 GXE. It came with remote power locks and trunk but no alarm, it just honked. But then i got an alarm, thats one way to go.

Run the vin through a dealer and they will tell you if it had it. if it does, good news. the remote sells for 41 us dollars at autozone
