Sliding doors

Haing problem opening the sliding doors manually. They work fine with when opened automatically with key or button. Took it to dealer who says the regulators need changed. Why would that need changed if the problem is opening them manually? Any suggestion as to the cause or where to pinpoint the problem. 2001 Town and Country Limited FWD. Thanks.
