DiabloGT

is the royal purple really a much better oil than like mobile1 oil? i know it adds like 7 hp but will it also keep your engine lasting more milage??

I dont really see why it would make your engine last any longer. Look how many miles some people get out of their cars just by using conventional oil.

DiabloGT

i heard mobile 1 helps your engine work good still pass 250k miles but not sure if its true im saking if royal purple does the same...

Yeah.. It depends a lot more on how often the oil is changed, and how the car is driven.. Which in ANY of our cases.. Isnt very good..

Ever heard of the Penzoil truck?? Some guy got like 900,000 kms on a Chev 1/2t without even looking at the engine (aside from regualr tune-ups and more than frequent oil changes) He always used Penzoil so Penzoil bought him a new truck and took his old one

if i change mine like every 2000 miles or 1500 and use royal purple and give nice tune ups all the time you think it can last to 250k miles?

DaMoNe6969

It depends on how you drive the car I guess.. Its definatly possible though

DiabloGT
07-10-2004, 11:04 PM
i treat it the best out of all mine, like i never abuse it until the engine gets warm, i dont really press it all the way down all the time, and until it gets good on the highway then i push it down... and i mostly do donuts on water so it doesnt really hurt the engine...

dude, oil lasts much longer than any of us think. we set up most new corvettes with mobile one for a 4 month 4000 mile period, and they still come in with 30% oil life remaining. chaning your oil every 2000 miles is just waisting natural resources.

It'll be a 50/50 mix of Crisco and "I can't believe it's not Butter". Don't want too much cholorestoral in my car ya know.

I use Royal Purple in the car and Mobil 1 In the truck. both are about the same IMO, but Mobil 1 is easier to get. 89iroc is correct, New oils (even conventional oils) last much longer than the old 3 month/3,000 mile rule. I usually change mine when it starts looking dirty in the car since I do not drive it much. I go by the oil life monitor in the TB and it goes to almost like 7500 miles! The more important thing when it comes to Oil changes though.....DON'T SKIMP ON THE FILTER! A good filter is very important!

changing your oil every 1500-2000 is kind of like eatn half a bowl of ceral and changing the milk It just dont make cents!!

Since I use Mobil 1 I just use their filters too... am I being suckered into paying almost $12 for an oil filter or is it worth it?

mobil 1 and K and N have great oil filters.

ok synth last longer due to lack of contaminants found in crude oil which can never be completely removed, though its getting closer. 3000 miles on synth is really good treatment unless its a racer, hell 4000 is probably easily acceptable, but I accept no liability

ok i don't get how royal purple add's 7hp how is that gonna work

DiabloGT

that's hilarous, i don't abuse my car till the engines warm, that's going down in the record books somewhere

Savage Messiah

whats so bad about an rs?

DiabloGT
07-12-2004, 08:52 PM
WOW! i read their site and it said "Royal Purple's superior oxidation stability enable oil changes to be extended to 12,000 miles, saving money, saving time and reducing the amount of used oil that must be disposed of. "
and also
"PurpleŽ provides superior protection and typically creates horsepower and torque gains up to 3%, fuel consumption reductions up to 5% and emission reductions of more than 20%."
so it is 12k when it turns bad and it adds mpg and hp and torque, i am so desperate to try it!...

i doubt its very different from any other synth

We use mobile 1 in all our vehicles! In my camaro, my moms SS camaro, and my dads SUV.....it's the best with my family.....And what's wrong with neons? At least his car isn't purple! lol

DiabloGT

how often do you see a purple camaro? and also i do use mobile 1 on all 5 of my cars, i feel like trying something new though...

DaMoNe6969

I think Mobil 1 is over rated.. Mobil1 this and mobil1 that.. blah blah blah..
I dont see any oil givin' you 7 additional horsepower! Good oil reduces friction.. Friction = bad! so less friction means the engine is using less power to turn the rotating assembly and other moving componants... But I dont see it giving you 7hp..

Im part of a group called SOnic (Supra owners network in Canada).. Run by Reg Reimer, anyone ever heard of him?? he does a lot of work for F1 Toyota Racing.. In all the tests that his company has done, Esso Ultra has come out to be the best.. Yeah it was a shock to me too.. Thats all I use..

DiabloGT
07-12-2004, 09:50 PM
if your a supra guy then why did you buy a camaro???

DaMoNe6969
07-12-2004, 09:54 PM
Im not a Supra guy.. Not a big fan of the car at all.. Im a Camaro guy! Ive had 4 Camaros in the 5 years ive been driving.. Just got my Supra last winter.. I was just saying, If Esso proved to be the best oil in the turbocharged Inline six, IMO its gonna be the best in my Z28 too

I work at cat and we have this process called S.O.S (schuled oil sampling.) and we do it on our Diesels (which run many times dirtier than any gasoline engine.) and with the hourly equivlent of 5k miles on conventional motor oil. It still had like 35-40% life on the oil people who change their oil at 3,000 miles are just wasting money.

Oh and by the way, K&N oil filters SUCK!!!!! I had to write a finial paper in my highschool shop class on an automotive related topic. (Stupid scool rules said that all finals had to have a research paper included with the final .) My topic was oil filters. I went out and bought Motorcraft, AC Delco, K&N, purolator, FRAM. I bought two of each filters, one to cut open, and one to use on the particle counter that we had in shop class. Anyway when I cut open the filters, K&N had the least ammount of filter element. Purolator had the most, and ACdelco and Motorcraft were a close second. Then I used the particle counter (It will measure the oil particle content before a filter and then after the filter.) and K&N sucked the big one. Here is what I came up with.

1. Purolator
2. AC Delco
3. Motorcraft
4. FRAM
4, K&N

tacoma man.

i changed the oil in my rallysport and i used mobil 1
synthetic, it sounds like i have a rod knocking. so i changed the oil and used penzoil 10w30 it runs quiet as a mouse. but the mobil 1 was kinda thin.
so maybe that had something to do with it.

I have a 95Z and I drive it like it's broke until my water temp goes up. Then it's all the pedal I can mash and not see blue lights. Is warming up your car not really needed. It makes sense to me, I warm up my muscles before I work out.
