I learned something today...

I did a quick install yesterday, put my blaupunkt components into my 96 accord. I mounted the new tweeters inside the door piller (behind the power mirror on the plastic 'triangle').. I hooked it all up, put it all back together and ran it for a while until my pioneer GM480 started going into protect mode over and over (you know, the clipping off like it's shorting a speaker wire). I thought "Surely to god I didn't blow my new speakers" so I started pulling it apart... my brother had to point out the fact that my factory components (which WERE blown, by the way) were probably still hooked up in their dash mounted location, still in line with the harness (which I tapped into behind the head unit with the amp).... so yes, not only was the Amp seeing a funky load, but it was trying to push through blown speakers (most likely a dead short)... it's all good again, I'm retarded, learn from my mistakes. :)

an easy mistake to make, especially if you use any of the factory wiring.

<nod> I was going to run fresh wiring straight from the amp into the doors but MY GOD, the 'grommets' are a pain to get to, I tried for an hour to find a way to poke a wire from the kickpanel into the door through the grommet tube.. <shrug> only running 80 watts per channel, I figure the factory wire (in spite of the splices) will be sufficient... the system sounds pretty damned clean to me at this point. I need to get an RTA in there and flatten the curve soon.
Thuggie, I'll get some pics up as soon as possible..

Basically, I popped the plastic piece off, drilled a small mounting hole in the plastic (the backside of the tweeter has a threaded hole) and mounted the tweeter to the plastic with a small screw provided with the speakers.
