need help W/ swift troubles

I own a 1989 suzuki swift GTI and it won't start after it died a few weeks ago. I asked my mechanic to look at it and he said it was the EPI relay so I bought a new one and it still wont start the fuel pump is pumping but the fuel isn't getting into the engine. Can anyone please help me find out what is wrong?

did anybody check the fuel filter?

Did it die out on the highway?
