Hey all. Ive never posted here before, (only in drift and autoX), but anyways, heres my deal. Im currently the not so proud owner of an 87 nova...also, i dont yet have my license. I wanna sell the nova once i get it looking decent and i need a car than wont burn holes in my pockets...ive been lookin at 240's and i really like them. Here's my question. Are 240's rather "universal" cars...by that i mean could i do some dragging, drifting, autoX...see what i mean? I need a cheap cool looking, quick alternative to the norm...emphasis on cheap..not that im not willing to spend alot, i just want the best bang for my buck.

Also, i heard 240's were "a drifting dream right out of the box..."
any comments on that?

And a 350 in a Z...? wha...? why? what good is japamerican hatchmuscle?? lol... :lol2:

please drop your :2cents: in. Later.

240Z are at the least, 30 year old cars, with the requisite rust, work, etc. What you are suggesting (dragging, drifting, autoX)is to some 240Z purists (and believe me, they're out there since I'm married to one), big no-nos unless you REALLY REALLY know what you're doing, again because the chassis, frame, etc for the car are in the 'old' category. And because this car is in the classic class, finding one in really decent condition where you won't have to fix a lot of things to get it just to run will mean that it will cost more than what you can get for your Nova. If you want a Nissan/Datsun with some pep and looks, and can still be less money than the 240z, try it's younger sibling, the 'first-gen' 300ZX, from '84 to '89. The engine's larger, more HP, looks great.

That being said, the 240Z can have a lot done to it, you can drop a small block v-8 from a chevy, beef up the tranny, etc. Check out hybrid-z.com.

As for the '87 Nova, if it's the same style that I think it is, you can do a lot of things to it to add speed, HP, etc. Plus parts for the GM cars are easier to find and interchange than the Datsuns.

If You Think The 240 They Are Talking About Being A Drift Machine Is The 240z You Are Wrong.... The 240 They Are Refering To Is The 240sx. The Z Cars Are Great All Around Contenders With A Strong Point Is Road/technical Course Racing. Drifting A Z Car Is Difficult And Requires Alot Of Experience/practice. The 240sx Is Extremely Easy To Flick Around And Get Some Ass-hanging Slides With.

Just a lil' fact... but the 240Z/Fairlady was a common car in Japan and was one of the cars used during the very early drift/touge-scene! Drift-machine? Once you get passed that 'classic' mentality... it really is a good platform...

I Own A S30 Chassis.... I Am All For Doing Whatever You Want With It, I'm Just Saying The S30 Chassis Is Planted When It Comes To Handling... And Its Difficult To Break Loose. I Know The History Of The Car I Have Numerous History Book On It, I'm Just Saying That The S30 Z Is Not As Easy To Slide As The Ae86 Or 240sx And The Like.
