Hi, I have a 2.3 engine. Canīt figure ut how the belt tensioner is relased for changing belt.

If it's the same as my 3.8, you should be able to put a wrench (or socket and breaker bar) on the nut and turn in the tightenining direction. That should move the tensioner spring in the belt loosening position.

Thanks, I figured out that it was supposed to lock in a released mode, the problem was that it didnīt lock. However, I managed to bolt a steelplate to the belt tensioner and lift it with a crowbar.

if you have problems with a 2.3, ask your questions at the german forum www.pontiac-transsport.de. There are a lot of people driving a 2.3!
