i was driving tonight and since the radio was off i was able to listen to the engine. i usually dont pay attention so i dont know how long this sound has been happening...but when im in 2nd gear a weird noise starts that sounds sort of like rattling and after about a second it will go away. also, i hear this in gears 1, 3, and 4 but only when the rpm is almost peaked.
another noise ive been hearing is my suspension, it makes creaking noises as i go over bumps. it seems to be only the rear driver side, and also that side seems to be a little lower then the other so maybe i need new shocks.
any help would be appreciated

have the cluth looked at to see if it is ok and check any heat shields to see if they are loose, as for as the driver side being lower check the bed mounts and check the leaf springs for bends

im not to sure about the rattleing noise with your truck, but my 94 s10 sits lower on the passenger side, like an inch lower and it drives me crazy, i think when i put my lowering coils in, i put one a little out of place, like i think i may need to twist the driver side so it goes lower, but i've also been told that all off the s10 sit like that, and you really cant tell untill they are lowerd? i dont know about that though

I had the same creeking noise on my drivers side rear as well, I thought it was the suspention aswell but it wasnt and was very easy to fix, i'm not sure if your truck is the same but if you look in the rear driver sides wheel well, you will see 2 lines that run through a hook type thing, and what was happening is when you go over a bump those lines move and rub against eachother and the holder they are running through causing the creeking i was hearing.. I just through some greese on them and problem solved.
