If they are resinators, then yes you can take them off, as far as I know they are simply for sound, not emissions. It will make it louder, and that may draw cops' attention, and I have been pulled over and warned before on loud exhaust, if differs county to county and is up to them to decide/enforce. I think it's BS, simply because cops don't carry decible meters, so they have no basis for writing the ticket.

scroll to the bottom, that is the borla catback. The resonators are part of their catback...all an exhaust is, is pipes taking the fumes out of your car.
As the pipes progress towards the back they go through a series of things:
catalytic converter-purpose-burn unburt fuel and reduces ozone-toxic gases
resonator-reduce noise
mufflers-reduce noise
You can take any part of that equation out, and the exhaust/pipes will still work fine...hell you could even take off the exhaust completely if you really wanted to. The only purposes of these things are to keep noise and pollution down. If you replace one part of it with a plain open tube, you are freeing up airflow. This means 2 things: more hp, and more noise. One part like a resonator wouldn't make much of a difference in either, it would make it a bit more powerful, and a bit noiser, nothing major. It is rather pointless to just do one part...if you want to upgrade, get a catback, or a downpipe and race pipe.
