damn recall

Took the Aurora in for the fuel rail recall. I thought they were going to replace it with metal one. NO , they say they are supposed to inspect it, and if it is leaking, then replace it.Makes no sense. They know they are going to leak sooner or later.................

If the rail is made of updated material (can't remember the specifics), it doesn't need to be replaced. I've only run into one of these so far...

Just had the recall repairs done to my car.
The car was leaking gas so bad from two spots that broke.
They did not want to wait for the letter from Oldsmobile.
They called the office back at Oldsmobile's head office, confirmed the car ID number against the list. They got verbal and later Fax approval to replace the fuel rail.

I will post in a week or so pictures of what it looks like.

Take the car to your local GM dealer and have them run the car ID number and check it against the recall list. If your own it, the dealer will at least do this for your safety.

I took my 96 in for the recall on wed. and they spent about 2 hrs on it. Replaced the complete fuel rail with all SS fuel rail. Looks good like it should have to start with from the factory.If you are in doubt about if your car is covered I would suggest you registar with mygmlink.com that is the fastest way to find out alot of info for your rora.

I will post this number again, 1-800-442-6537. Call it. 1995 is not covered by the recall yet. I called and they took care of my leaking 95. Someone booking work told me it would 20 days before they could get me in, asked for service manager and it was done the next day. It was set up by calling the above number. They talked directly to the service manager of my choice. It's some GM service/info for recalls and such number.
