Import ?

I was just browsing...and wondering...have anyone of you ever lost to any type of Import? Supra, RX7,Prelude, Civic Si,300Z? I am not trying to start a flame...I just want you to be honest???

Before I got my um.......intake mod :D I lost to a Turboed Integra on the interstate and a modded TT Supra from a roll.

I have only gotten one RICER to race. And beat him. I haven't raced any REAL Importers. Can't wait though. I am starting to see more suped up imports. I just hope they did alittle to the engine.

Never really got any GOOD races with any FAST Imports.
Only one with a BPU+ Supra. He was lookin at T/A Taillights!

i raced\destroyed a 240 SX the other day..... does that count? ;)

A co-worker's Honda s2000 couldn't hang, I guess that's a real import. Nice car though.

Porsche 928 gave me a run for my money. I was very suprised how quick that thing was. He was on my tail all the up to 120, that when I shut it down. Never take one of those for granted, trust me.

all i have to say is an import (TT Supra) will kick the living shit out of any Mustang POS!!!!!!!

Vinny Ten's got the fastest as of late, with an 8.1 sec. Supra.
Pro 5.0 cars are consistently running in the 6's and getting faster.

I've taken many Civics and CRX's in my 5.0. I did get beat by a twin turbo Supra with some mods on it. I'd still like to race a 300ZX though.

Who you think will win? we got some serious money on this, ive got a hundred bucks riding on this race. a buddy of mine has a 88 5.0 LX. He's got right around 450hp. He has a Vortec Supercharger, 3:73's, an X 303 cam, and all the bolt ons there are. Ive got a CRX, ive got right about 290-300 hp. my car weighs only 1,800lbs. Ive got a GSR engine, a turbonetics T3/T4 turbo, cams, pulleys, gears, aem intake, fuel management system, and im waiting for the venom nitrous set up. Let me know what you think. we both run mid to high 11's.

i have a 1995 v8 mustang and i raced a 1996 prelude v-tec once and got beat......i guess he must have had some mods......my friend got beat with some kind of civic....well i love my mustang but i got to give the imports some props cuz they makin their cars faster than ever...but mustang rule all tha way...........

all i have to say is an import (TT Supra) will kick the living shit out of any Mustang POS!!!!!!!

Never lost to a Import. I never raced a good one when stock or close too. Now I eat up well modded ones.

I got spanked by a Turbo Supra (from a roll)when my car was stock. I kept up w/ one until half way through 3rd gear from a stop.
Also spanked by a nice silver 93 RX-7. (He had intercooler, exhaust and a tad bit of driving skill

When you build a car, you have to compare apples to apples. You guys know what I mean.

It depends on the import and the driver and the mods...just like any domestic...

As much as im sure ya'll would hate to admit it..there is domesitic "rice".

When it comes down to it, its all generally the same thing.

Yeah im looking to buy a '97 SVT cobra right now...but thats because I just finished working on my prelude and decided its time for a change...to see what its like on the other side.

Yeah, the people who know what there doing and do the right things to the right imports make a LOT of fun of the ricers....believe me, there is nothing like teaching a kid a lesson about his civic dx....

As far as overall speed and what not....

Imports = mostly handling/huggin the twisties
Domestic = just damn fast on roads/strights

Personally, I like the look and way most imports over almost all domestics.....but Then, I like the sound/feel of a domestic's power, even over say a WRX STi (BTW..has anyone tried to take one of those from a dead stop...id like to hear about it).


I want a prelude with a turbo'ed 350 under the hood lol.

Street racing is not an accurate method of determining performance. There are too many variables, road conditions, multiple passengers, and especially reaction time. Street Legal and E.T @ mph is the only true determination.
Every kid in the Honda forum says they've beaten a Mustang GT. But no one ever backs up their claims with quarter mile time slips.

I know there are a lot of Honda kids that are like that, but there are also a lot of Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Toyota kids that do the same thing. You just have to teach them, sometime they listen, most of the time they do not.

Always our (import drivers) "veiws" are shown off by the one with the lowest IQ. I know my civic walks stangs.... the 4bangers by doing it a few times (non SVO) never had a v-6 race and got killed by a 351 and 5.0 but was worth it to see them fly. I don't see whats wrong with losing to a faster car be it from US or japan or germany as long as its a good fun race.

I have a vortech aftercooled blower kit on it, drag radials, Dynomax mufflers, x-pipe with cats, long tube headers, straight header cut-out plates, k&n filter, underdrive pulleys, 50 shot of venom with purge kit( that comes out of the cobra emblems mouth). Double-plated clutch. And this adds to the time I have been to drag racing school, and I am considered a professional driver on the strip. my best 1/4 time up to date is [email protected] MPH

I have raced many imports to include a fair number of s2000, civic, and supras. I have not been beat yet. I have had a few close races though, were talking 1 car length or less. I have raced both on the track and on the street, won some money along the way as well. The closest I came to getting beat was by a s2000 on the juice, If he had not hit the go go button to soon he might of beat me. Naturally aspirated it is no competition.

I have a 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 pushing upwards of 400 ponies...

4 and 6 cylinder rice burners just can not compete with detroit 8 cylinder muscle....

If u guys consider these supras. Ara Arslainian and George Ioannou's Street Glow Supra powered (2jZGTE engine) Solaras run 6's. and i think Vinny Ten is almost in the 6's now. along w/ a few other supra owners.

i bet my old accord couldla competed w/ u. no lie. a lil boosted prelude power will work wonders w/ a 4dr mommy mobile. i wished i still had that car. taught alot cocky domestic owners like u a lesson. no offense to u stang owners w/ some sense. i love stangs and pretty soon will be the next project of mine. but there are 2 many cocky mustang owners that are gonna come across import that is gonna eat there lunch.

that counts. but 240SX's are slow. they have pickup truck engines w/ alot of torque but not that much hp's. but a 240 but in the hands of the rite owner could work wonders w/ that thing. those pickup truck engines sittin in the 240 has come along way over the yrs.

The only good race I've had this year was another 03 cobra. The Z06 wasn't even that close. Everyone is slow around here or I just haven't found them yet.

i wish u coulda found me when i had my accord. dont laugh. i woulda gave u a run for ur money. lol i dunno if i would. i coulda probaly taken anything on the road cept for a modified cobra or a vette.

since from wat ive herd u dont live in the US. which means u cant go to any drag strips hear. i live rite by Old Bridge Township Raceway Park one of the most famous dragstrips in the country. ive seen the street glow solaras which are powered by 2JZ's run 6's. if i remember rite a supra racer broke into the high 6's.

So, you bring to the table a couple of Supra drive train Soloras, that are in the high 6s.

I wonder how many years we have had V8s running those numbers;)

I've lost to an STi, Sprayed/stripped CRX, sprayed prelude... that's about it. Oh! A 300ZX, with work, of course. The STi was the only stock car I've ran and lost to.
