Please respond, I know you guys are looking (trip meter)

It really not a BIG problem just sort of irritating(sp). but my trip meter seems to give more credit than due. I recently drove about 10-15 minutes to my local store. And when I looked at my trip i was surprised to see I had travel 606 miles! :screwy: (606 miles without a fill up, my gas mileage can kick your gas mileages ass LOL). BUt in all seriousness is this a common problem? and if so how can it be fixed? ooh yea btw 93 euro 160k miles. :eek7:

It is a common problem but no one knows how to fix it.

Just dont worry about it, at least your car starts and it can be driven.

I would just replace it, do a search on ebay for a trip odometer for a 93 lumina, I believe all of them 1990 to 1994 are all the same. Someone correct me on that. Pull the dash apart, and replace, I dont know if you can just buy the trip, though, might have to buy a whole new instrument cluster, but, hey, if the new one you buy only has 40,000 miles on it, no biggy, right? he he he, I wont tell if you wont.

maybe you were abducted by aliens for a couple of weeks, and they had a beta droid acting in your place while you were away. Your lookalike drove that 600 extra miles while you were unconscious/being experimented on.

Your speedometer accurate?

Try pulling out gently on the reset stick, if you are talking about a mechanical trip odo, to make sure the reset has fully disengaged all the cogs. They get sticky sometimes. Fully depress the stick several times and pull out and see if it loosens up.

I've tried all of your advice, but still no dice. And I also noticed my regular odometer is increase way too fast as well. any more suggestions?

I have the same problem. Recently I tore my whole dash apart. When I took out the instrument cluster I noticed it was rattling. Gave it a few shakes and out fell a cracked sprocket fell out. I asume this was one of the sprockets that was controlling my trip odometer as everything else works fine. Also the only way you can replace the trip is by replacing the whole cluster.
