Hey, my friend just wrecked his 240, and his dad told him that he had to sell it. He screwed up the bumper, hood, and fenders. So i was gonna buy it and do the s13 silvia conversion. My question is, if i have to show the car to my insurance company, will they still cover me, if ive dont the conversion? Do the headlights and stuff matter. Im afraid that if i show it to them before they will say its totalled. Any opinions?
Its liability, but will they even give insurance to me? thats my question i guess.

They shouldn't say shit, unless you open your mouth and tell them you are going to swap a high performance engine. If you want the mods covered, give them receipts, and they will include this. If your car is far from stock and you don't want to risk having some idiot wrecking you RB26, and all the goodies, you can get a "stated value policy" which are costly, but they cover the car for what ever you say, and charge you accordingly.

Well, thanks for the input, but i went and looked at it. Seems it was damaged a bit more than he told me. The things that the fenders bolt onto are seriously bent, and the radiator support that is on top has bent all the way back to where the fan wont turn because its either on his engine or his CAI, i dont remember where it was lodged. But i think it will end up being too much money to fix it.
