In a survey, the number one thing that American's are afraid of is public speaking, number 2 is death. That means that at a funeral the average American would rather be in the casket then giving the eulogy.

So they're more afraid of speaking in front of a bunch of people than being raped up the ass by 7 men with spiked clubs..in front of a bunch of people?

Yeah, I've heard that saying before. It's really kinda dumb. You have no idea how this survey was done. It sounds like they walked up to people on the street and asked them their worst fear. If someone did that to me I'd probably say getting a finger cut off/losing a limb/losing an eye at work. But obviously I'd rather have that happen to me than dying. And obviously someone would rather speak in front of a crowd than be dead.
That survey is dumb, now I'm pissed off.

I don't like speaking, but I can get up in front of 1000's of people and rock out some tunes.
I've spoken at my school and shit, that was ok. I didn't mind it.
It was nerve racking actually getting to do it, but once I was actually up there talking, it wasn' so bad.

I have the utmost respect to those that can get up and speak at the funeral of a loved one. Mum had to do it this year when grandad passed away, I couldn't have done it
