97 Z71 brake lights not working

I go to get my truck inspected and the guy says everything is great except that the brake lights don't work. I had no idea. I check the fuse (O.K.), I check the bulbs (O.K.). The turnsignals work and the hazards work. Last week I trailered a Sea Doo that had a 4 or 5 way flat connector that plugged right in. I did not check to see if the brakelights were working then but I'm starting to wonder if this is related to my problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There is a fuse under the hood labeled stoplamps(maxi fuse). Check it.

my brake lights quit working I was told.first place I checked was the wiring at the back by the bumper they usually break in there. If you drive on gravel roads the rocks just pound the piss out of the wires.

After checking the fuse under the hood, see if your thrid brake light is working. If the fuse is good and your third brakelight is NOT working then it is probably the switch that is under the dash hooked to your brake pedal. It may be bad or I have seen them come unseated from the holder ( it just snaps in). Double check all that and it should fix it.
