Is it true keyless remote

Is it true If I have an after market radio in my civic my keyless entry will no longer. I have a 96 civic ex it has power locks and everything but when I bought the car it didin't have a keyless entry remote. Now I was thinking of buying one on ebay being they are purty cheap. Does any one know will it work on my car and how would I program it. Once again it has power lock and I did install an after market radio..

doesnt matter if u have an aftermarket radio...my boy has it and it works fine...do the damn thing and get the keyless entry

That gen civic (same as mine) uses the stock radio to program the remotes. I don't know how else to do it.
I've also heard that aftermarkets can render the keyless entry useless. That could be why. But I've seen special wire harnesses that are supposed to make any radio adaptable to the remote.
Still don't know how you would program it, though...

Well thats what I had heard to. If anyone know anything that I can do because I would like keyless entry but I have an after market radio in there and it's not coming out.

just got a diffrent radio installed in mine and my keyless entry still works. the installers just had to drop the factorf radio in the dash somewhere. they had to do this because orriginally the keyless entry wiring ran through the radio.

putting keyless entry would probably be a professional jod also

I have a 95 ex and I have an aftermarket radio with a keyless entry/security system. I know its a diff gen, but nobody asked when I had it installed. I think you should be able to do it.
