Music preference and box problem

So I've found myself not listening to my favs anymore but now what puts the most bass in my car and causes the worst headache..anyone have any favorites that sound great with deep bass..ie..prodigy, bass mechanic, bass 305..etc. I'm trying to put together some wma cd's and could use some help with my selection..thanks.
Also, another reason for this is that it seems I have to change my freq. level on my amp when I switch from say techno to hiphop...and if I don't I get a roll-off at a slightly higher or lower freq. and when played loud if not adjusted just sounds horrible but when adjusted right creates havoc (in other words sounds or feels great). Any suggestions? My box is dual 12's with 2.9 cuft. per, w/ 2 x 4 1/2x10 1/2 in. ports per side...I have very little port noise and was wondering if I could get rid of a port on each side to catch maybe alittle bit deeper bass response? Would this work and control the bass alittle better?

the box size and port(s) are tuned to the the sub .... don't just arbitrarily remove one of the ports unless you really know what you are doing.

not really in my situation...I built the box alittle while back and its sitting in the middle of the "everyday" and "ultimate" box specs the dealer provided. The everyday bass box is approx. 2.6 cuft. w/ (1) 4 x 9 port..the ultimate spl is 3.3 cuft. w/ (2) 4 x 10..so I kinda went in between the two seeing that I couldn't fit a total of 6.6 cuft. in my hatch...for the 1/2 in. bigger in port diameter I went 1/2 in. deeper in port length. This is a stupid question now but how do you tune a box? Thanks.

Your estimation is where you messed up JC80. There is no estimation is building a ported enclosure. It really needs to be dead on for proper performance. You tune a box with the port length and an RTA or SPL meter. You are much better off either building a new box to the manufactures 2.6 spec or modifing your current box to meet those specs.

yea ... what he said. The port has a volume (the area of the circle X the length) that is tuned to the size of the box and parameters of the woofer. Changing the port volume and box volume is how you tune it for a certain frequency response. Not as easy as it sounds though.
