"How to build Honda horsepower"

Ricochet

Didn't quite know where to post this where every Honda owner could see, but please, everybody go buy this book. It covers in detail anything and everything on Honda engines from n/a D16's to boosted dohc vtec's, with dynochart comparisons to build your puny Civic into a track-monster. I've spent many hours on the toilet reading this book and have learned a lot more than any forum or website could have ever taught me. Please read this book, it's a very, very good resource.

yes it is a good read and i would agree everyone should have this if they want to either build a 9 sec H ride or a nice street car

There are many good Honda/Acura performance books out on the market. One of the first two things I suggest to some one, 1. repair manual 2. performance book(s). It's always nice to know what your doing before you do it, plus they could save you LOTS of money doing it right the first time.
Like rubix said www.amazon.com & www.helminc.com

Ah, That is Fuckin Funny.
I own the "Civic Duty" and "Sport Compact Performance VOL. 1"
Civic Duty is Very Good, It has a real 'down to earth' author.

Bought the book today, love it. Only thing that I didn't like was that it didn't have anything on on the ITR or CTR motors (other than the cams, intake and exhaust manifolds on other motors).

integra111

does ths book include info on the prelude and its motors

Yeah the book only covers usdm engines including d16's, b16a's, and b18c1's... no type r's or h22's in it. Sorry I didn't mention that.

civicHBsi91

i bought "high-peformance honda builders handbook" and that has some very good indepth technicle shit. If you know a shitload bout hondas and youre trying to build a mean ass street car, this is the book for you! Its not dyno-oriented like HTBHH (i think thats the one im thinking about) but its good non the less!

yea i got the book that the guy above mentioned but i was kinda dissappointed by it. Told me a bunch of shit i already knew, didnt really go into detail on alot of stuff. Anyway does this other book tell alot about b20 swaps and going CRVTEC?

Ricochet
07-31-2004, 07:06 PM
It does have a few crvtec and ls/vtec dynocharts. There is one section where they briefly explain how to build one too.

just to throw a comment in here, I bought the book from totalcampus.com on the first night this was posted a long ass time ago. I still haven't recieved it, I emailed them and everything and they said that they didn't even ship it till the 24th so yeah they are slow as hell and i'm getting pissed. I just want my damn book! haha.

PS: i'm assuming they don't really have anything on the B17 but they do have the B16 right? wouldn't be much of a honda book if they didn't.

Civic_D16Y5
08-02-2004, 11:09 AM
for some crazy reason, they dont have anything about my Y5 motor.
with the book i thought it was gonna be a lot differant, like the first section would be d16s and what an intake, manifold, exhaust, and turbos would do for it, then onto the b16's etc. the book was kinda worthless for n/a d16s i think

I bought a book called "Honda & Acura Performance Handbook" yesterday and I give it a big thumbs up. Has a lot of info on suspensions setups and balancing, carberators, ignitions, and fuel management. Good well rounded info book.
